Evidence-Based Counseling for Individuals & Couples in Waynesville, NC

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy offers space to slow down, process difficult experiences, and better understand the patterns impacting your emotional well-being, relationships, and daily life. Jamie supports adults navigating anxiety, trauma, stress, burnout, grief, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, and self-worth struggles through a grounded, evidence-based, & deeply human approach to therapy.

Couples Therapy

Relationships can begin feeling distant, tense, or stuck under the weight of stress, conflict, emotional disconnection, trauma, and life’s demands. Couples therapy helps partners better understand the patterns underneath the conflict while rebuilding communication, trust, emotional safety, and connection. Jamie works collaboratively with couples to help reduce unhealthy cycles, strengthen emotional awareness, and create healthier ways of relating together.

Nightmare/CBT-N

Recurring nightmares can leave you feeling emotionally exhausted, hypervigilant, anxious around sleep, & stuck in cycles of fear or overwhelm. Pause Pivot Flow Counseling Services offers CBT-N (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Nightmares), an evidence-based treatment approach designed to help reduce nightmare frequency, improve sleep quality, & support emotional regulation for individuals experiencing nightmares connected to trauma, PTSD, anxiety, or chronic stress.

Get To Know Jamie

In my years working with individuals navigating deep personal trauma and high-stakes survival stress, I saw a recurring heartbreak: the more someone is hurting, the more desperately they crave connection—yet the harder it becomes to risk the vulnerability needed to get it. We build walls to protect ourselves, but those same walls inadvertently lock out the people we love the most. I believe human connection isn’t about being perfect; it’s about building a safe enough harbor where two people can finally drop their armor and risk being seen again.

For years, my clinical foundation was forged within the federal Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system. There, I walked closely with individuals carrying the heavy burdens of trauma, chronic survival stress, and moral injury. While that work was profoundly rewarding, it taught me an invaluable truth: the individual cannot fully heal in a vacuum. True, lasting resilience thrives when the relationship at home becomes a secure sanctuary rather than another source of tension.

I transitioned my practice into the Western North Carolina community to focus entirely on treating the relationship itself. Because I deeply understand the complex internal world of the individual, I am able to hold a balanced, entirely objective space for both of you. I am not easily shocked, I don’t take sides, and there is no conflict too big, messy, or chaotic for us to untangle together. I am genuinely willing to sit with your heaviest, most complex relational moments without judgment.
